Pastina with Meat Broth

Ingredients

1/2 boxBARILLA Pastina
1 wholewhite onion, peeled
1 wholecarrot, peeled
2 stalkscelery
1whole chicken
2 poundsbeef bones
2 poundsbeef shoulder
to tastesalt
8 cups (2 quarts)water


PLACE the ingredients for the broth in a large pot, cover with cold water and bring to boil.
SIMMER for about three hours, skimming foam from the top every once in a while.
STRAIN the broth using a fine colander.
BRING two quarts of broth to boil, add Pastina and cook according to the directions.
SERVE very hot in a soup bowl.



*Ready made broth or stock may be substituted
