Martin Scorsese and Barilla to host “Food in Film” Discussion on
Cuisine’s influence on Cinema
New York, New York – Tribeca Film Festival co-founders Jane Rosenthal and Robert DeNiro Today announced Barilla as Official Food Sponsor for the First Annual Tribeca Film Festival. The Festival will take place in lower Manhattan from May 8 – May 12 2002, and is presented by American Express. Barilla, along with Festival co-founder Martin Scorsese and food critic Gael Greene, will host a special luncheon and discussion on Thursday, May 9th that explores the influence of Food in Film.

This is the Tribeca Film Festival’s inaugural year. Created by Jane Rosenthal and Robert DeNiro, the mission of the Tribeca Film Festival is to enable the international film community and the general public to experience the power of film by redefining the Film Festival experience. The Tribeca Film Festival was founded to celebrate New York City as a major film making capital and contribute to the long-term recovery of lower Manhattan.
The Tribeca Film Festival film slate includes over 150 films including 62 Feature, Documentary and Short Films in Competition, The American Express Presents the Best of New York Film Online Vote, Martin Scorsese and The Film Foundation Present The Restored Classic Series and Best of New York Film series (curated by Martin Scorsese). There will also be a special screenings of Warner Bros. films Insomnia and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, and screenings of Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones.
Tickets for film screenings and other events go on sale to the general public Wednesday, April 24th at 9: AM.
