Approximately 150 people attended the event, including top-tier media, such as Food & Wine magazine, Gourmet magazine, Parade, NY Post, RAI, CBS and NY1, culinary notables and VIP attendees. Following the panel discussion was a screening of Barilla’s 125th anniversary mini-film, directed by internationally acclaimed director Wim Wenders.

During this special forum, Scorsese and Greene explored the cultural significance of food in movies such as Chocolat, Big Night and Eat Drink Man Woman as vehicles for humor, foreshadowing and character development. At a luncheon following the panel discussion, Barilla’s award-winning chefs created a culinary extravaganza for guests.

Barilla Donations to America’s Second Harvest

Every year, Barilla donates pasta and sauce products to America’s Second Harvest, a national food bank network. Barilla’s partnership with America’s Second Harvest dates back to 1997, when the company provided 20,000 meals to the organization during the celebration of Alex Zanadri’s 1997 PPG Cart Championship. In 2000, Barilla contributed the largest pasta donation ever made to America’s Second Harvest, with 1.2 million pounds.

A non-profit organization, America’s Second Harvest is among the nation’s largest charities and is the largest non-governmental feeding program. Once the product arrives at the food bank or food rescue program, it is distributed to charities that serve qualified, low-income families with children, the working poor, the elderly, the homeless, the disabled, the unemployed, and victims of natural disasters.
